World Environment Day.

Press Note – EPTRI Activities on “World Environment Day” (June 5th 2021)

 

Environment Protection Training and Research Institute (EPTRI) along with Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) has organised a series of virtual events & webinars from 27th May  to 5th June to mark the World Environment Day

 

Sri A.Indrakaran Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Environment, Forest, Science & Technology, Law and Endowments, Government of Telangana through video message emphasised that forests should be protected and the plantation program under Haritha Haram taken up under the guidance of Hon’ble Chief Minister has increased the green cover in Telangana state by 4%. The Minister said, Government of Telangana flag ship Kaleshwaram project has increased the agricultural sector growth, ground water recharge and advocated all to be a part of restoring the Ecosystem.

 

Sri Adhar Sinha, IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary to GoTS, and Director General, EPTRI highlighted the importance of ecological restoration and role of EPTRI towards restoring the environment in terms of water, solid waste, biodiversity.

 

Smt. Neetu Prasad, IAS, Member Secretary, TSPCB has emphasised the need of Ecosystem restoration, importance of maintaining the ecological balance.

 

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Rajat Kumar, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana, I&CAD department, Environment, Science & Technology department has highlighted on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).He also highlighted the projects of Kaleshwaram, Haritha haram and progress made by Telangana State Govt.

 

E-posters, E-stickers and EPTRI initiatives like establishment of Herbal Garden, Plant Tissues Culture lab, Laboratory Management System, Restoration of Drinking Water Supply at EPTRI were released

 

The virtual meeting was attended by officials of TSPCB, NITHM, ASCI, ISB, MA&UD, Professors  from various Universities and about 300 students
